Melanie Rijkers is MeRy (1971), a dutch photographer who graduated at the Academy of High Arts in Breda in 1996. Since then she's been working as a photography artist, got married, had two sons (Mees in '99 & Pim in '02) with her husband Hans, and together they also created her own studio in Breda in 2003. Melanie loves creating an obstinate portrait, her own pieces of artwork and photoseries for (travel)documentaries.
At the moment she's working on her second little photobook, titled "20", which will show portraits of her classmates of 1983, her last year at elementary school. Then in 2005 the artbook 'Nachtboek' will see the light of day, which will show her dreams visualised. The word 'Nachtboek' is the opposite in Dutch for the word diary; which is 'dagboek'. The words 'nacht' & 'dag' mean night & day...so in the end the book will be the image diary of her actual (night)dreams. Want to get your own picture taken?
